This doesn’t, however, mean that you will be able to leverage additional frame rates with gaming. Google Pixel 4 already has 90Hz refresh rate (adaptive), Samsung will integrate the same with the Galaxy S11 (as may be presumed with 120fps display support on Exynos 990), and Asus already has a 120Hz screen on its aggressively priced ROG Phone 2 ( review). OnePlus later adopted the same refresh rate with the more affordable 7T ( review).Īlmost all popular Android OEMs are now set to adopt the technology. However, the ultimate push for higher screen refresh rate happened with the launch of OnePlus 7 Pro ( review) and with billboards across the country advertising its ‘smooth’ 2K AMOLED screen. Soon Asus joined the bandwagon with a 90Hz refresh rate display in ROG phone. All this chatter around the higher smartphone display refresh rate started when the Razer phone and Razor Phone 2 debuted with a 120Hz refresh rate screen.
Until last year none of us really talked about the screen refresh rate on the phones, at least not on mainstream phones.
